Confused about normal GW installation
When I install Guild Wars on this computer, it doesn't autocreate a start menu folder like it use to. Any reasons why? I'm on Windows 7.

Windows 7 too, it never did on mine. But always puts a shortcut to the Games menu. GW and Win 7 is odd anyway, it'll create the most annoying shortcut command ever (-mce, opens up the windows media player every time you boot the game) and has some weird issues where the loading screens will turn black for a couple of seconds before letting me into the new area (setting it to windows vista sp1 compatiblity fixes this).

Semi-bump, for anyone else having problems, at least.
It seems it only wants to install the short cuts sometimes. So what you do is uninstall Guild Wars and reinstall it. It helps to install as administer, I think. Stupid Windows 7 downgrade.. Windows Vista was soooo much better! |

As far as making shortcuts and stuff goes, Windows 7 is the same as Vista.
Normally, in Windows 7 and Vista, after you install, you will find GW in the Games folder - which is great for your average soccer mom, but annoys me. The easiest way to make a desktop icon for GW is to use Windows Explorer to navigate to the Guild Wars folder - usually C:\Program Files\Guild Wars or C:\Program Files(x86)\.... Once there, right click on "gw.exe" and select Send To > Desktop (Create Shortcut). But basically no, you won't have a Start Menu folder. |
